Mrs McIntosh is currently on maternity leave. During this time Mrs Blake will be Acting Head Teacher.
Meet our wonderful staff
Teaching has always been my passion. There is nothing I love more than witnessing a child have their "aha" moment. My favourite subject to teach is reading, phonics especially! My other love is music. I can often be heard making up songs that no one has ever heard before! I love teaching the children music, especially singing and how to play the recorder. I am very fortunate to have taught in a variety of different countries, such as Scotland, England, The United States, Russia and Brazil. This has given me a greater insight into different teaching methods and has also made me realise the value of additional languages in the Primary Classroom. The best part about being a Head Teacher; walking into the classroom and seeing the children all engaged in their learning. I am very fortunate to have a very dedicated and talented staff at Clachan Primary School, who ensure that learning is always fun for the children. Mrs Laurene McIntosh Head Teacher
I have been a teacher for 14 years, having experience in working with children of all levels and abilities. I believe that numeracy, literacy and wellbeing are at the heart of all learning. At Clachan Primary School I work closely with my pupils to ensure challenge and breadth of learning across the curriculum. I love outdoor learning, using our environment as a classroom. We explore, discover and create while learning about team work, life skills and environmental issues. As a whole school, we Nordic Walk weekly and regularly invite members of the community to come along! Wherever we walk, we always find something to spark the imagination. Today we spotted a buzzard and picked brambles to use in our baking. As we all reached the top of the hill and looked down over the fields to the sea below I couldn’t help but think how lucky we are to have such a unique learning environment. Mrs Lucy Blake Principal Teacher
I have been teaching part-time in Clachan Primary since 2002. My association
with the school goes back even further: my own children attended here!
In
Clachan, I have mainly been involved in the teaching of Language, Drama and
Primary French. My background is originally that of an English teacher so I have
a particular interest in the development of reading and writing skills, more
especially the skills required for creative writing.
Clachan Primary
School provides a great environment for pupils to engage in a wide variety of
learning opportunities. I really enjoy my time here each week! Mrs Susan Connor Class Teacher
I have worked in Clachan Primary School for 13 years. Apart from working in the school for that time I have had a personal connection with Clachan Primary as my three children all went to the school and received a very good education in a wonderful environment.
It is a great school to work in, the staff are all very friendly and we have a good working relationship.
In my job I have a variety of tasks. The clerical work is very interesting and challenging. I also enjoy being classroom assistant as I like working with the children and love to see them progress during their primary school years.

I have worked here at Clachan Primary School as a Learning Support Assistant for the last ten years. I enjoy Outdoor Learning at Clachan and the close connections that we have with people in the local community. Mr Mike Stanesby Additional Support Needs Assistant
I have worked in Clachan Primary School for over ten years as an Additional Support Needs Assistant. I work here two days a week, working in another school, also for two days. I enjoy working in rural schools as there's a feeling that it's like one big family. The children all look out for each other and are very welcoming to visitors. They have excellent outdoor learning opportunities and it is a very safe environment in which to learn and grow up. I find Clachan a very friendly village. I am married with four grown up childen and live in Campbeltown.
Mrs Mary Morrison Additional Support Needs Assistant
I'm married with 2 children. Having worked at Clachan School for 6 years, I've incorporated the school lunchtime into part of the pupil's learning process. Following the healthy and nutritionally balanced menu set out by Argyll and Bute Council, I actively encourage the children to try new foods and discuss the flavours, textures and smells of what they are eating in a happy and relaxed atmosphere. Mrs Jasmine Cupples Catering Manager
After 15 years in outdoor education, I took a break when my kids were wee and then returned to PE teaching. This time in the Primary sector. I believe running about is an important part of children's health. It is vital that they experience many different ways to move, grouped roughly as games, gymnastics, dance and athletics. I try to make lessons fun and provide a broad base of skills in the hope that pupils find an activity they can enjoy right through adulthood. Mrs Ali Floyd PE Teacher
